Tax Day Extension

There is a new deadline for individuals to file both their federal and state income taxes.
The U.S. Treasury Department and the IRS recently extended the federal income tax filing date from April 15, 2021, to May 17, 2021. In response, California has also extended the state’s tax filing and payment deadline to May 17, 2021.
This extension will provide taxpayers with additional time to navigate a complicated tax season as we recover from the COVID-19 lockdowns.
You do not need to claim any special qualifications for the extension, however you are still encouraged to file as soon as possible in order to have your tax payments processed quicker and receive your refunds sooner.
Please note that this extension will not apply to those making quarterly estimated tax payments on 2021 income that isn't subject to tax withholding. First-quarter payments will still be due April 15.
