A Memorial Day Message

Today we take a moment from the weekend activities to come together as a community to honor those who have sacrificed to make such a day possible.
Memorial Day is a time to mourn and honor the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our great nation and defend our freedoms, both on our own soil and abroad.
The ones who gave us their all so that we could live in a country that continues to value freedom for all.
These countless individuals have left us a legacy of duty and courage that has given us a safer and more peaceful world. Their strength and sacrifice are an inspiration.
This year, I would like to ask you to join me in remembering the Fallen 13, who lost their lives protecting and serving in Afghanistan on August 26, 2021. Among them, there were three Marines from Riverside County.
•       Marine Lance Cpl. Dylan Merola, 20
•       Marine Lance Cpl. Kareem Mae’Lee Grant Nikoui, 20
•       Marine Cpl. Hunter Lopez, 22
Their sacrifice, and the sacrifice made by their loved ones, is a true expression of selfless service - they represent the best America has to offer.
Please take a moment this Memorial Day weekend to honor those who made freedom possible, and let’s teach our children these important values, so we ensure our liberties will be cherished and protected by future generations.
Please join me this Memorial Day in paying our respects to our fallen heroes.
