A Memorial Day Message

Today we take a moment from the weekend activities to honor those who have sacrificed to make such a day possible.

Memorial Day is a time to mourn and honor the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our great nation and defend our freedoms.

Originally known as Decoration Day, this day was set aside to recognize the immense cost paid by the country in the Civil War. Families and communities would go to cemeteries and decorate the graves of our nation’s fallen with flowers and flags.

While the name has changed, the purpose and spirit have not. These countless individuals have left us a legacy of duty and courage that have given us a safer and more peaceful world. Their strength and sacrifices are an inspiration to all of us.

Please take a moment this Memorial Day weekend to honor those who made freedom possible, and let’s teach our children these important values, so we ensure our liberties will be cherished and protected by future generations.

Please join me this Memorial Day in paying our respects to our fallen heroes.
